Photo Size Optimizer App Reviews

19 Customer Reviews:

It works well, but it is confusing to use and the lack of a Help file makes it more so. It also lacks options available in other software like the ability to save settings between sessions. I would also like to be able to simply over-write the contents of a folder with the compressed files but if this is possible the means are not obvious. Having said that, with a little use, it becomes intuitive and finding an efficient workflow is not difficult. The results are impressive and it does everything the description says it does. I have a lot of pictures to upload to a photo site with a relatively slow internet connection. Now, what used to take hours or have to be left overnight can be done in half an hour or so.

Hmm

Not retina compatible. Exports to jpg even if your original is png. Unpolished interface with spelling errors in alerts.

philosopherdog v1.60 · 10 years ago

Compress images and resize them as promised, even if my late 2012 retina has some problems keeping up with its resources requests. I would use this software alongside some other image processor (and change the valutation to 5 starts) if the following features are introduced: 1) Overwrite old files 2) Overwrite old files and keep backup in given folder Also, i don’t get why some buttons as “export” are redundant. Finally, the gui is not yosemite-ready.

A good image resized app. Only to drag photo to the app, and then you can resizer or squeezer. And it also add the whole folder, show the compressed rate of each file.

One of the best photo resizer and optimizer apps I have ever had the pleasure of using. You can resize and compress without losing any of visual quality in the photos. Happy Day!!!!

This app managed to save my computer space! ImageMini took all my photos and converted to a lower file size, my photos look untouched and perfect! I now have more space! Super useful!

i have a large number of photos and they occupy my mac. i have to use more space to store these photos. but now i can use this app to resize my photos and save my mac space. Awesome app

It appears to use the same algortihms as ImageOptim, but not quite as easy to use for quick and dirty reductions. It would be nice if it just simply performed the operation without the need to export when working with lossless compression. Also i I was hoping to see a lossless option for PDFs, but that sadly is not available.

Well worth having

WOW, this was great, super speed. I upload photos for a business and this application just saved me a lot of time and the pics look awesome.

Good app to save somespace on your mac. The phots are converted in lower size but the quality is still interacted. It has a nice interface and it’s easy to use. If you have storage problem this is an app that could be very useful

I use this app to batch-shrink the size of photos I take with my camera before I upload them to the web and it does an amazing job. Shrinks 1.5 Gig photos to 10 or 15% of their original size without any apparant loss, and it does groups of them at once. I upload real estate photos and they have to look very good … and they do. This app is an outstanding value.

I have limited amount of space on e-mail so its great to be able to quickly shink the memory size of a picture dramatically without effecting the image quality too much.

First of all congratulations for what is a very good app (ImageMini). I have some issues though that I think you should address: 1. Why does the app start processing files as soon as I add them? If I change the export size it will cancel the images that have already been processed, and only do them again at the end. I think this approach is wrong - the app should not do anything when files are added, but rather when you export. 2. When exporting, there should be an option to overwrite originals. This would save me the time of having to manually replace the originals file - if I want to. 3. The export size parameters (width x height) are not respected correctly for portrait images. Consider the following example: - original size: 5184 x 3456 - export size chosen: 2048 x 1536 If the image is in landscape mode, the resized image is indeed 2048 x 1536. But if the image is in portrait mode, it will use 1024 x 1536, which I think is wrong - it should rather use 1536 x 2048 (the reverse of the export size I chose). This way all images will have the same dimensions and correct orientation.

Had a hard time finding an easy image resizer. Coming from Windows, with its Powertoy Image Resizer, which is drop-dead easy, I found it hard to find anything anywhere close. This one is pretty good. I agree with another reviewer, it shouldn’t start resizing immediately upon inputting the files, in case I want to change settings. Other than that, I’d say it’s a good purchase.

dshinnick · 10 years ago

Not sure what’s happening here. I choose a resize option, and it seems to ignore it. My original file is 4288x2848. I chose 2048x1536 and although the file size was reduced drastically, there was no change in the dimentions of the image according to Finder. I tried again with 1600x1200, and it gave me a file that is 3200x2124 according to finder. I give it two stars because it does indeed reduce the file size while preserving image quality. However, I can’t imagine using this program for reliable image resizing.

OS El Capitan on a Mac Pro Just downloaded and converted 106 very large jpegs to a much smaller size for email. It worked flawlessly the first and only time I have used it so far.

WILLIAM BOWEN · 10 years ago

Definitely saw results when I used the app, the one thing i would love to see is the option to squeeze files inside folders and retain folder structure. This would save me an insane amount of time when it comes to web developement and optimization.

Great Tool, But Buggy

Great tool, really easy to use, but sometimes the render gets stuck on the wheel and won’t let me export/save the changes. Overall, nice tool to use and has been very helpful. Hopefully they’ll fix this bug soon.

I love it. Thanks so much!

Tried using it to compress icons/small images, didn’t work

I gave it 64x64 icons I needed scaled down to 36x36, and they went from 1kb to 7-9kb. Disappointed, hoping I can get a refund.

Excellent photo size reduction without noticable loss in quality.
